About Gamejunks

Welcome to Game Junks!

For years, there has been a void in the online gaming community. Gaming sites, traditionally, have either featured very extensive databases at the expense of a nice look and easily accessible information, or have been nice-to-look-at at the expense of up-to-date reviews and well-written articles. Also, gaming sites usually tend to concentrate either on computer and console games or on tabletop games. Of course, there have been many exceptions, but Game Junks aims to break away from the average gaming site and present in-depth reviews, articles and more about tabletop role-playing games (RPG’s), war games, board games, card games, computer games and console games.

While the online gaming reviews and articles are in English, we were still planning to publish Game Junks as a free PDF and limited print magazine in Dutch. As it turns out, a Dutch version was no longer needed, so the PDF and magazine is just available in English, boasting a beautiful design and layout.

Game Junks used to be called Cerberus Too, since it was part of the Cerberus line of magazines, but we finally got the permission of our editor to change the name to something that sounds a little better and is easier to remember.

The PDF magazine already is available and will also be downloadable through this site, so if you speak English , please check it out, and if you don’t speak English – well, please check it out, too. The pictures are nice to look at and our scoring system uses numbers. Dat betekent dus dat je de meeste recensies van – en artikels over – rollenspelen, wargames, boardgames, cardgames, computergames en consolegames ook gewoon in het Nederlands kunt volgen! A video podcast will be added soon as well.

Even though many gamers have an extensive vocabulary and a fluid writing style, we have decided to maintain a strict quality control by only using a small team of accredited journalists and authors. We are actual professionals, who have a genuine love for the world of gaming and we have been playing role-playing games and other games since the delicate age of 10 or 12. The gaming sessions we have had in the past and still have in the present have shaped our lives, our way of thinking, our array of knowledge, our social aptitude, our mental acuity and – most importantly – our vast internal database of absolutely useless trivia.

We own literally hundreds of games and even more supplements and miniatures. Some of them have been gathering dust for decades, but we would rather be held captive in a 5’ by 5’ room with a gang of house lovers who are blasting their beats at us for 24 hours straight during 3 days (yes, 4 days would be too long – everyone has their limits) than throw them away or sell them to the highest bidder (well, unless the bid is really high).

The duo at the heart of Game Junks, Joeri Winkeler and Dirk Vandereyken, used to play together while still at school and they have remained friends ever since. While Joeri has grown to become a design and website expert, Dirk has written more RPG, war game, board game, card game, computer game, console game, restaurant, hotel, travel, wellness center, sauna, camera, guitar, music, film and other reviews than he actually dares to remember. Also please check out Dirk’s latest two English-language novels, Fates Worse than Death: Hunter (published by Vajra Enterprises) and Baour, Strands of Death (published by BlackWyrm books). We will be posting all kinds of stuff about games regularly, but please be aware that working with a small, dedicated, professional team also means we can’t get out 200 reviews a month. However, we are confidant that our style of writing and the way we present our reviews and articles will make sure you all keep coming back to this site!
